Is Amazon Racist?

This image has been circulating around the web showing an amazon search result for a fisher-price dollhouse. The reason for the notoriety is simple: the white family costs $16 more than the african american family. It's actually pretty amusing to consider how many people are talking about this picture when you consider this is not proof at all to support the assertion that Amazon engineers are prejudice.
First of all, Amazon doesn't selectively alter prices based on race. What does impact pricing is the manufactures price charged to Amazon, which I can assure you doesn't fluctuate based on color. More importantly, if you look closely the caucasian set isn't sold from amazon but rather a third party vendor. It is common for Amazon prices to be lower than other merchants who list their products on Amazon.
Simply, I found it pretty funny to see how enraged my peers become over this image. Facebook exploded for a couple days when clearly this picture proves nothing. Moral of the story: do some research before making broad claims.
